Composite bonding in Laois: 2026 prices

Not one dental clinic in Laois publishes a price for composite bonding. We ran the survey across 75 Irish clinics and checked every practice we could find in Portlaoise, Portarlington and Mountmellick: Laois came back empty. So if someone quotes you a “Laois price”, they are quoting you their price, not a market rate. The lowest published price within reach is €150 per tooth at Excellence in Dentistry in Naas and Newbridge, Kildare. Laois is not alone in Leinster: Laois and Offaly publish nothing, while 10 Leinster counties do.

our survey of 75 clinics, Sept 2026

Population: CSO Census 2022, table F1003. Dental practitioners: CSO Census 2022, table F7042, occupation 2215, people in the labour force who live in Laois. Residents per dental practitioner and the county ranking are our own arithmetic on those two tables. Clinic count: our survey of 75 clinics, 1–6 September 2026. CSO tables read 30 October 2026.

Laois has one of the five thinnest ratios in Ireland: one dental practitioner lives here for every 4,375 residents, against 2,210 nationally. Between 2016 and 2022 the number went from 14 to 21 while the population grew 8.5%, so there are more dentists per head than there were. The Census counts dentists where they live, not where they work, so dentists who commute in from another county are not counted.

No Laois clinic publishes a bonding price, so every local figure is a quote on request. Ask for the price per tooth in writing, with the tooth numbers on it, before the consultation.

What this means if you live in Portlaoise

We are not going to invent a Laois price to fill this page. What we can give you is the real national picture to measure any quote against: the median published price in Ireland is €250 per tooth, the full published range is €125 to €800, and six upper front teeth at the median works out around €1,500.

Your nearest visible market is Tipperary, where the median is €150 per tooth. Of the 12 counties in Leinster, 10 have clinics publishing prices: Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow. If a clinic in Portlaoise quotes you well above €250 per tooth, that is not automatically wrong, but you are entitled to ask what justifies it before you commit.

Before you ring anyone

Ask what the price actually covers. Per tooth or per arch? Is the consultation included? Is there a written warranty? In our survey of 75 clinics, only two published a warranty on the work: Truly Dental at six years and Boyne Dental at five. Everyone else publishes a price and says nothing about what happens if it chips.

No cost, no obligation

No Laois clinic publishes a price

So we will tell you what the nearest ones charge, what a fair quote looks like against the national median, and introduce you to a Dental Council registered dentist.

We are not a dental practice and we do not give clinical advice. We may be paid a fee by the clinic you choose to see.

Questions people in Laois ask

How much does composite bonding cost in Laois?

No clinic in Laois publishes a price, so there is no local median. Nationally the median published price is 250 euro per tooth, with a full range of 125 to 800 euro. Most people treat the six upper front teeth, which at that rate is about 1500 euro. Always confirm what is included. Some prices cover a single tooth only, some include the consultation, some do not.

Why do prices vary so much between clinics?

Across our survey of 75 Irish clinics the published range was 125 to 800 euro per tooth: more than a six-fold spread. Some of that is materials and the dentist's time. A lot of it is simply what each practice has decided to charge. The same dental group charges 130 euro in Swords and 700 euro in Mayfield, Cork, which tells you the price is not driven by cost alone.

How long does composite bonding last?

Most sources put it at roughly four to eight years before it needs repair or replacement, depending on your bite, your habits and how it is looked after. Worth noting: in our survey of 75 clinics, only two published a written warranty on the work at all. Ask about that before you book.

Do I need to travel to Dublin for composite bonding?

Not necessarily. Dublin's median published price is 250 euro per tooth, which is not the lowest in the country. Cavan has the lowest county median in our survey at 150 euro. Travel time and follow-up appointments matter more than most people account for, so a local clinic at a fair price usually beats a cheaper one three counties away.

Is composite bonding suitable for everyone?

No. It depends on your enamel, your bite and your gum health, and none of that can be assessed from a photograph or a price list. A Dental Council registered dentist confirms what is actually possible at consultation. Anyone quoting you a firm treatment plan before examining you is guessing.

How many dentists are there in Laois?

The 2022 Census counted 21 dental practitioners living in County Laois, up from 14 in 2016. That is one for every 4,375 residents, against one for every 2,210 across Ireland (our arithmetic on CSO tables F1003 and F7042). The Census counts where people live, not where they work, so dentists who commute in from another county are not included.
