Population: CSO Census 2022, table F1003. Dental practitioners: CSO Census 2022, table F7042, occupation 2215, people in the labour force who live in Louth. Residents per dental practitioner and the county ranking are our own arithmetic on those two tables. Clinic count: our survey of 75 clinics, 1–6 September 2026. CSO tables read 30 October 2026.

Louth has one of the five thinnest ratios in Ireland: one dental practitioner lives here for every 3,776 residents, against 2,210 nationally. Between 2016 and 2022 the number went from 40 to 37 while the population grew 8.4%, so there are fewer dentists per head than there were. The Census counts dentists where they live, not where they work, so dentists who commute in from another county are not counted.

When you ring, ask how soon a new patient can get a consultation, and whether the consultation fee comes off the treatment price.

What a full smile actually costs in Louth

Most people treat the six upper front teeth. At the Louth median of €375 per tooth that is about €2,250. At the lowest published price in the county it is €1,800; at the dearest, €2,700. Nationally the same six teeth work out between €750 and €4,800, which is why a single quote tells you almost nothing on its own.

Ranked against the other 19 counties where clinics publish prices, Louth sits #19 of 20 from lowest to highest. The lowest county median in the survey is Cavan at €150; the dearest is Clare at €600.

Consultation fees and paying in instalments in Louth

2 of the 2 Louth clinics publish a consultation or exam fee of €50. Ask whether that fee comes off the treatment if you go ahead. None of the Louth clinics in our survey publishes a finance option, so ask directly if you want to spread the cost.

Before you ring anyone

Ask what the price actually covers. Per tooth or per arch? Is the consultation included? Is there a written warranty? In our survey of 75 clinics, only two published a warranty on the work: Truly Dental at six years and Boyne Dental at five. Everyone else publishes a price and says nothing about what happens if it chips.

No cost, no obligation

Questions people in Louth ask

Where is the lowest-priced composite bonding in Louth?

Of the Louth clinics that publish a price, the lowest is Smiles Dental Dundalk in Dundalk, from 300 euro per tooth (checked September 2026). Prices change, so confirm with the clinic before booking.

Do clinics in Louth charge for a consultation?

2 of the 2 Louth clinics we surveyed publish a consultation or exam fee of 50 euro. Ask whether it is deducted from the treatment price if you go ahead.

Can I pay for composite bonding in instalments in Louth?

None of the Louth clinics in our survey publishes a finance option. Nationally, 14 of 75 clinics name Humm as their provider, and a credit union loan is often cheaper than point-of-sale finance.

How much does composite bonding cost in Louth?

The median published price among clinics we surveyed in Louth is 375 euro per tooth. Most people treat the six upper front teeth, which at that rate is about 2250 euro. Always confirm what is included. Some prices cover a single tooth only, some include the consultation, some do not.

Why do prices vary so much between clinics?

Across our survey of 75 Irish clinics the published range was 125 to 800 euro per tooth: more than a six-fold spread. Some of that is materials and the dentist's time. A lot of it is simply what each practice has decided to charge. The same dental group charges 130 euro in Swords and 700 euro in Mayfield, Cork, which tells you the price is not driven by cost alone.

How long does composite bonding last?

Most sources put it at roughly four to eight years before it needs repair or replacement, depending on your bite, your habits and how it is looked after. Worth noting: in our survey of 75 clinics, only two published a written warranty on the work at all. Ask about that before you book.

Do I need to travel to Dublin for composite bonding?

Not necessarily. Dublin's median published price is 250 euro per tooth, which is not the lowest in the country. Cavan has the lowest county median in our survey at 150 euro. Travel time and follow-up appointments matter more than most people account for, so a local clinic at a fair price usually beats a cheaper one three counties away.

Is composite bonding suitable for everyone?

No. It depends on your enamel, your bite and your gum health, and none of that can be assessed from a photograph or a price list. A Dental Council registered dentist confirms what is actually possible at consultation. Anyone quoting you a firm treatment plan before examining you is guessing.

How many dentists are there in Louth?

The 2022 Census counted 37 dental practitioners living in County Louth, down from 40 in 2016. That is one for every 3,776 residents, against one for every 2,210 across Ireland (our arithmetic on CSO tables F1003 and F7042). The Census counts where people live, not where they work, so dentists who commute in from another county are not included.
