Key points
Most people treat six or eight upper front teeth. At the national median of €250 a tooth that's about €1,500 for six and €2,000 for eight; across the market six teeth runs €750 to €4,800 (price survey). Add the consultation: 65 of the 75 clinics publish one, from free to €150, and 9 list it as free. Whitening first adds €300 to €405 at the clinics on our fillings and whitening page.
humm is the finance product most Irish clinics name. It's provided by FlexiFi Europe Limited, trading as humm, which is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland (humm Ireland). How it works, from humm's own page:
| Amount | Term |
|---|---|
| €80 to €499.99 | Paid fortnightly or monthly |
| €500 to €999.99 | 6 to 12 months |
| €1,000 and over, up to €30,000 | 24 to 72 months |

Smiles Dental, which offers humm across its clinics, publishes "interest-free finance for up to 24 months" and plans up to €30,000, with two worked examples: €999 over 12 months at 0% with no fees, and €2,999.99 over 36 months at 9.99% with a €40 application fee and €4 a month (Smiles Dental). Both say "subject to credit assessment and approval". The rate and the fees are set per clinic, so ask for the exact figures before you sign, and ask for the APR, which includes the fees.
Revenue allows relief on non-routine dental treatment. Its list includes crowns, veneers or "Rembrandt type etched fillings", tip replacing, posts, inlays, root canal treatment, periodontal treatment, orthodontics, surgical extraction of impacted wisdom teeth and bridgework. Routine care, including fillings, scaling and extractions, doesn't qualify (Revenue). Form Med 2, which your dentist completes, lists "Veneers / Etched Fillings" as item B (Med 2). The Med 2 is a receipt, not the claim: you claim through your tax return and keep the form in case Revenue asks.
Clinics put the relief at 20%. Smiles Dental: "Patients may be entitled to a 20% tax rebate" for crowns, inlays, veneers and the like (Smiles Dental). Riverforest: "claim 20% of the cost back, by filling out a Med 2 form" (Riverforest Dental). Whether your bonding is certified as a veneer or etched filling on the Med 2 is the dentist's call, so ask before treatment, not after.
Every clinic's published price, consultation fee and finance option is in the cost table and the survey CSV.

Sometimes. humm's interest runs from 0% to 14.99% depending on the clinic, with an application fee and a monthly account fee on top. Smiles Dental publishes interest-free finance for up to 24 months, subject to credit approval (Smiles Dental).
It depends on the plan. humm's own example is €800 over 12 months at 4.99% with a €15 application fee and €2 a month, which it gives as an APR of 14.90% and a total payable of €860.77. Ask your clinic for the APR on its plan.
Revenue's non-routine list includes veneers and Rembrandt-type etched fillings but not routine fillings. Your dentist certifies the treatment on Form Med 2, and clinics describe the relief as 20%. Ask the dentist before treatment how they will classify it.
Smiles Dental and humm both say finance is subject to credit assessment and approval.
